Joseph Brough Hood was born between July and September 1893 in Wolstanton to Enoch Jnr. and Edna Hood. Enoch was born in Burslem and Edna in Wolstanton and they had eight children, four of which did not survive childhood.

In 1901, 1908 & 1911 the family were living at 1 Queens Street, Porthill and Enoch is working as a Potter’s Thrower. In 1911 Joseph is working as a Potters Scabber Tile Fixer.

Between July and September 1914 Joseph married Bertha Cartlidge in Wolstanton. Sadly, we know nothing more about Joseph, other than he died between April and June 1936 aged 42. He and Bertha were living at Ambleside, 70 Dimsdale View, Porthill and he le left an estate of £994 5s.
