William James Bourne

William James Bourne was born in Tunstall in about 1861. He was living with his wife Eliza and son Harry at 14 Heaton Terrace in 1911 and was employed as a ‘Potters Storekeeper’. William had previously been employed as a ‘Builders Commercial Traveller’.
The family had previously lived in Burslem and had 3 other children.

According to the book ‘Boy Scouts Organisation Register for The Potteries and District Boy Scouts Association’, William became an official Assistant Scout Master on 9th December 1908 and stayed in that role until some time between 1915 and 1918 (he is recorded on the 1915 registration document, but not on the 1918 one).

Unfortunately, that’s all we know of William’s life.
