Scout’s First Summer Camp

In 1984 it was decided to hold a week long summer camp for the Troop in Lligwy Anglesey North Wales. This saw the Troop visit all over North Wales and spend plenty of time on the beach!

Summer Camp became an annual tradition. Some were more memorable than others, especially 1986’s where the Troop went to Aberdarren in Gwynedd. The weather on the first two days was glorious, but on the third day we caught the tail end of Hurricane Charley! This blew over all of the tents, despite everyone’s best efforts and snapped a number of ridge poles. We spent the rest of the week ‘camping’ in the Church Hall! See here for more details of the hurricane.

The page title is slightly false, as this was the first summer camp since the early 1960s and the Troop was reformed!
