By 1991 there were changes in the Group. The Group Scout Leader was David Wood, the Cubs were now run by Dave Morris, Sharon Hickton, Gareth O’Donnell and Chris Palin and the Scouts by Dave Farr and Dave Bowers. We started our Beaver Colony this year as well. This was run by Tracey Poole, Sarah Adams, Sarah Morris, Chris Palin and Nick Wood! It is interesting to note that many Beavers who joined at this time went all the way through to Ventures!.

It was in this year, that the Scout Troop embarked upon its most ambitious annual camp (this remains so to this day). They went to Erlangen in Germany! Erlangen was chosen as it is twinned with Stoke-on-Trent and as we were in a District based in Stoke, we were able to get funding for the trip along with the huge amount of fundraising that the Scouts did! The Scouts stayed on the American Army base there.

A week after the Troop came back from Germany, some of the Ventures completed the expedition part of the Queen’s Scout Award. They hiked 55 – 60 miles over four days along part of Offa’s Dyke in North Wales. They walked from Knighton to near to Chirk.

On the hike were Gareth O’Donnell, Paul O’Donnell, Mathew Richards, Nick Wood & Mark Lovatt-Harris.
