Charles Burnett Lawton was born in Wolstanton between July and September 1892 to Charles and Georgina Lawton. Both Charles Snr. and Georgina were born in Wolstanton and they had eight children, one of which did not survive childhood.

The family were living at 3 Heaton Terrace in 1901 and Charles Snr was employed as a Sanitary Presser in a pottery. The family were still living in Heaton Terrace when Charles Jnr. joined the Scouts in 1908, but had moved to 123 Watlands View by the 1911 Census. Charles Snr. was still a Sanitary Presser and Charles Jnr was a House Painter.

We know nothing more of Charles Jnr.’s life other than he passed away between April and June 1973 aged 80. He was still living in the Newcastle area at the time.
