George Harold Hyatt was born 10th February 1894 in Wolstanton to William and Elizabeth Hyatt. William was born in Stone and Elizabeth in Chester and they had eight children, three of which did not survive childhood.

George was baptised in Wolstanton on 30th June 1897. The family lived at 30 Queen Street Porthill in 1901, 1908 and 1911 and William is employed as a Joiner. In 1911, George is an Apprentice Draughtsman in Engineering.
